WOW! What started as a year to scale back to 2 fundraisers, ended with 7, and we are so very thankful! With the success of these events, we blew out our original goal of $75,000 in 2016 and ended raising over $96,675!!
With this success, we have contributed $25,000 towards the A-T Children’s Project’s Global A-T Data Platform, bringing our total contributions for this project to $65,000! With the launch of this project Q4 of 2016, 140 children have already provided their DNA and medical information which has been compiled into useful information accessible by researchers and physicians world-wide. We are so honored to be able to make this contribution and are hopeful for a formal treatment in the future because of it!
We are excitedly looking over new opportunities and will be reaching out to A-T families to provide new Grants for life improving, uncovered, medical expenses to continue making these dollars count!
Thank you to all who helped us reach this incredible accomplishment! We wish you a very Happy New Year and look forward to continued success in 2017!

Bradenton Macaroni Kid, July 21st 2016… Meet our Mom on a Mission this week, Samantha Dzembo!
Research update: The A-T Children’s Project (www.atcp.org) has launched the Global A-T Family Data Platform & Genome Sequencing Project, a database of clinical records and the DNA sequencing results of children diagnosed with A-T from all over the world. This information will readily provide scientists/researchers information during their quest for a formal treatment & cure of A-T! Last year, due to our generous donors and successful fundraisers, WFF was able to contribute $40,000 to this project for the genome testing! This is very exciting news which keeps hope of a cure for A-T a reality! Thank you donors and THANK YOU A-T Children’s Project for making this possible! As 2016 comes to a close, families of a child with Ataxia Telangiectasia are hopeful. We’re hopeful because the dollars raised throughout the year, through hard work/grass-root efforts, IS making a difference! Please read the below letter from the President and Founder of the national foundation for Ataxia Telangiectasia, the A-T Children’s Project…
📌 MESSAGE FROM BRAD MARGUS,
As you plan your year-end giving, we know that there are a lot of good causes out there, but please consider supporting the A-T Children’s Project.
We really need your help right now so that we can jump on new scientific opportunities to solve the problems A-T kids have with lost muscle control, cancer, immune deficiencies and lung problems.
Your help will enable our scientists to make additional progress in 2016, especially toward treatments that may help the neurological problems of A-T.
Scientists can now make stem cells from A-T kids’ skin and blood cells and then turn them into brain cells that can serve as disease models and possibly treatments. Emerging gene editing technologies such as CRISPR-Cas9 make a host of new experiments possible. Breakthoughs in whole-genome sequencing may help us find genes that determine the severity of A-T. And, improved imaging approaches may reveal defective brain circuitry in A-T.
It kills me that I can’t tell you today that we’ve found a treatment for children with A-T, including my sons Jarrett and Quinn. But I assure you that we are as driven and relentless as ever and will never slow down until we can give A-T kids the lives that they deserve.
I wish you and your family a happy and healthy 2016. We look forward to keeping you posted on our research advances.
All the best,
Volunteer Chairman and Founder
