Tri-Net, Team Sharks, Walk for Wobbly Feet!

TriNet had a holiday fitness challenge (11/17/14 – 1/16/15) where colleagues joined teams, used fit bits and worked towards 10,000 steps per day or way more!  Steps could be earned by walking/running while wearing fit bits or manually entering walking/running/cycling/swimming on the exercise tracker page.

When teams were asked which charity they wanted to walk for, local Sarasota Tri-Net employees, Team Sharks, immediately suggested Wobbly Feet especially because the goal was to support kids and ideally go grass roots.  Team Captain, Jen, and others walked 40,000 steps a day where only 10,000 would keep us on track. “Frankly, our walk for Wobbly Feet became an obsession and we’ve been working hard since November 17th,” expressed Team Sharks member, and ongoing Wobbly Feet supporter, Erin McGinty.

At the finish line, Team Sharks came in 2nd place and by mid-February, TriNet will be donating $2,000.00 to Wobblyfeet.org as a result!

Erin explained, “The best part of this competition besides working hard for our health, was that the mission and importance of Wobbly Feet reached 20 people in California, Nevada, New Jersey and Florida who never before knew about this cause!”

A huge thank you to Tri-Net for hosting such a fun challenge and to Team Sharks for supporting Wobbly Feet one step at a time!

Wobbly Feet Receives Grant from Cardinal Health Foundation!

Wobbly Feet Foundation is honored to receive a $3,500 grant from the Cardinal Health Foundation! Thank you to board member and Cardinal Health employee, Diane Lacenere for participating in the foundation’s grant program by submitting Wobbly Feet as an applicant. Funds from the grant will 100% go towards advances in A-T research by being dedicated to a new genome project lead by our national charity for research, the A-T Children’s Project.

The genome (DNA) sequencing  will allow scientists to better understand the various physiology seen in children diagnosed with A-T and has potential to unlock new pathways for a formal treatment. The goal for this project is for all 500 children diagnosed in the USA to be tested. At a cost of $1,500 per child, this grant will allow 2 children to receive the testing with results contributing to the study. The balance of the grant will go towards the Wobbly Feet Family Grant program.
